I have a new idea, over the past year I am aiming to better my digital painting skills in the hope I will become faster and in time, find my style. My idea is that I will only digital paint environments and do my character design on paper. There is just something about using the pencil that can enable me to be as raw and messy with my character designs. I definitely have shown (I think) that I got a good eye when it comes to designing and painting environments...think there is more freedom in the wash of colours that I am able to 'undo' lol!
Firstly I will begin just by copying concept art already done, games are great for this. My picks are Tomb Raider (2013), Kingdom Hearts 2, Skyward Sword, Rayman Origins/Legends even the Avatar series has some amazing drawings for both environments and character design.
As an artist I've learnt I am very versatile and I can adapt to anything, all I want to do is stretch out my skill across many platforms (3D to digital painting). It's not fair to say it hasn't been a struggle learning this about myself, even adapting! I always initially wanted to have one style to focus on...but in a twist I find my style is that I have no style - I can adapt.
For character designs I'll look to the same games as well, I love the wackiness! It's me as a person!
A SURVIVOR IS BORN!
Peace out <3
